Coupons and Charities Unfortunately, charitable groups are often unknowingly drawn into scams by con artists. These con artists will often pay for coupons by the pound. These con artists make no distinction in selecting their victims. Fund-raising groups for churches, hospitals, high schools, libraries and all sorts of other good causes have been drawn into these scams. The group may make some money in the short term, but jeopardize their reputations. These good people are often easy prey for con artists.
