Pennsylvania Indictment

October 30, 2001 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of an indictment charging Robert Clayton, a/k/a "Bud" Clayton, Eva A. Clayton, and Robert J. Mancaruso, Jr. with twenty-four counts of mail fraud, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §1341. Mancaruso is also charged with two counts of tax evasion, in violation of 26 U.S.C. §7201. The indictment alleges that the Claytons and Mancaruso fraudulently submitted to manufacturers of retail goods in excess of 3.7 million unredeemed manufacturers' discount coupons valued in excess of $2.3 million which had not been used to purchase goods. The indictment also charges that Mancaruso failed to report income totaling approximately $381,000, and owed approximately $110,000 in additional federal income taxes as a result of the coupon scheme.
