Seeking Solutions – Homemade Counterfeit Coupons
The Coupon Information Corporation (CIC), a not-for-profit organization of manufacturers, is seeking solutions to the growing challenge of Homemade Counterfeit Coupons printed on home/office equipment. Specifically, the CIC is looking for information on cost-effective printing (i.e., copy prevention, holograms, etc.) and authentication (pens, etc.) techniques to reduce the vulnerability of traditional cents-off coupons to scanning, photocopying and other common methods of counterfeiting.
The ultimate goal is to prevent the acceptance of homemade counterfeit coupons at the retail point of sale.
Companies with solutions to this challenge are encouraged to provide the information listed below and mail it to the CIC. This information will be compiled and provided to the Member Manufacturers of the CIC and may be used as part of an upcoming study on this issue, with appropriate credit and contact information provided for participants.
Members of the CIC include: Bayer Consumer Care; Bristol-Myers Squibb; Brown & Williamson Tobacco; Colgate-Palmolive; Commonwealth Brands; General Mills; Gillette; Hershey Foods; Johnson & Johnson; Kellogg Company; Kimberly-Clark; Kraft Foods; Lorillard Tobacco; McCormick Spice Company; Nestle USA; PepsiCo; Pfizer; Procter & Gamble; R.J. Reynolds; S.C. Johnson & Son; Unilever Bestfoods; and Unilever HPC.
Please note that the CIC will not endorse any particular vendor.
